STORY:
When naval aviators Kelly “Mac” MacGruder and Tommy “Duke” Mitchell return to Earth from their adventures on MONSTER ISLAND, they’re no longer just heroes—they’re something more. Something...super!
A shadow organization known only as MM-1 wastes no time in recruiting the newly empowered flyers for an important mission: explore the unknown and stand guard against the horrors that go bump in the night… and the ones that don’t stay in the dark.
Their first assignment drops them into the scorching sands of New Mexico, where a long-buried alien wreck hides a deadly cargo: a nest of Kryll eggs (see ALIEN ALAMO). Standing watch over that unholy brood is a living nightmare—the towering, unstoppable behemoth known as The Brood Sentinel! Two pilots. Impossible powers. One chance to keep Earth from becoming the next hatching ground.
WHY A SUPERHERO STORY?
The Fantastics is my love letter to the superheroes of old, not the nihilistic characters that inhabit the titles of today. I wanted to do a comic that was full of wonder, excitement, and adventure. A comic that has characters that are inspirational and aspirational and above all…fun!
I also wanted a superhero book that could seamlessly tie into my established monsterverse. And guess what? I DID IT!
